Separation Technology - Dialysing-Membranes, -Chambers, -Kits, -Cells, -Sheets, -Bags Filtration THOMAPOR ® -Macro Dialysing Cell for Volumes up to 50 ml Product specification • Double-cell system made of biocompatible glass-clear acrylic polymer material for pressureless dialysis with dialysing membranes of customary diameters. Metal-free sandwich construction, easiest mounting without screwing by use of safety clamps made of polymer material. Easy exchange of the dialysing membrane, sealing by elastic, biocompatible FPM O-ring. Double-port for each cell with Luer-fitting for filling with syringes or for tubing connection to peristaltic pumps for continuous dialysis. Complete systems in field-proven sizes with cell ​ volumes between 2 x 1 and 2 x 50 ml. Each filling hole is closed with a PTFE-coated screw made of stainless steel. • Both parts of the chamber are absolutely tightly pressed together and closed with four central screws. The dialysing membrane is inserted ​ and fixed between the two parts of the chamber. THOMAPOR ® -Dialysing Cells Application area • Separation of proteins and other macromolecules out of solutions, deionization of protein solutions and during protein binding studies. Furthermore, the dialysing cells can be used for quantitative separation of electrolytes out of biological fluids, for adjustment of composition and concentration of electrolytes in protein solutions and for change of ​ the ionic environment of natural or synthetic macromolecules. THOMAPOR ® -Flow Dialysing Cell Product specification • The cell is made of clear acrylic glass allowing continuous monitoring. The cell is suitable for total as well as for equilibirum dialysis. • The cell allows a rapid dialysing process and easy sample withdraw. • Both parts of the chamber are identical and each is equipped with a stainless steel needle with Luer-Lock-fitting made of the same material. The sample application is effected through the filling whole on one part of the cell which is closed with a PTFE-coated stainless steel screw. • Both parts of the chamber are absolutely tightly pressed together and closed with four central screws. The dialysing membrane is inserted ​ and fixed between the two parts of the chamber. Product specification • Highly permeable, sterilizable dialysing sheet made of regenerated cellulose for use in THOMAPOR ® -dialysing cells and in other systems. • THOMAPOR ® -cellulose dialysing sheets contain approx. 10 % water and are stabilized to drying out with glycerol. They are sterilizable but have to be treated again with glycerol after sterilization to prevent drying out. Before use of the membranes the glycerol has to be removed by washing with ultrapure water. For removal of sulfur traces from THOMAPOR ® -cellulose dialysing sheets the THOMAPOR ® -sulfur wash solution kit (cat. no. 58860) is recommended. The dialysing membranes contain water, glycerol and small amounts of sulfur compounds being predominantly polysulfides (approx. 0.1 %). Glycerol and sulfur can be removed by intensive washing of the membranes. • To preserve humidity the membrane rolls are packaged in polyethylene bags. The membranes lose elasticity when they emit humidity to the air. • The molecular weigh cut-off is 3500 to 14000 dalton. Various buffer solutions should be tested as the charge of the molecule can be changed by the pH of the medium. Pulling at the membrane in one direction decreases pore size, pulling in both directions increases the pore size. Wet membranes should not dry out. For preservation they are kept in ​ benzoic acid or formaldehyde.
