They are used for filtration of corrosive and other aggressive chemicals or gases up to +204 °C. Unlike cellulose filter paper, the PTFE interstices are bonded together resulting in a stabilized pore configuration. This unique combination of depth filter and screen characteristics creates a highly effective filter media. Zitex ® membranes have a better controlled pore size distribution than other high temperature, chemically resistant membranes with similar pore size ratings. • Zitex ® filters are strong enough to be self supporting and may be used without any additional backing material, which could compromise results. The non-stick nature of Zitex ® provides excellent filter cake release properties. • Zitex ® may be sterilized with steam or bactericidal solutions. It is suitable for chromatography solvent filtration and degassing. Zitex ® membranes are inherently hydrophobic, which makes them ideal as venting devices. However, aqueous solutions may be filtered by using pressures exceeding the membrane’s water initiation pressure, or with the aid of wetting agents, such as methanol or ethanol. Disks are ​ interleaved with separators for cleanliness and ease of handling. Separation Technology - Round Filters and Membranes THOMAPOR ® -Filters made of PVC Application area • For production of ultrapure water of 1-18 megohm quality. • Microfiltration; suspension of starch, resins, activated carbon; precipitation of proteins, barium sulfate, silicic acid. Bacteria and spores are retained completely allowing sterile preparation of water and air for enzymes, sterile rooms and bacteriological cultures. For collection of dust samples in the air. • In food processing and beverage industry as well as in the pharmaceutical industry. • Filtration of drinking water. • For filtration of organic materials and recovery of noble metals from electroplating solutions. • Pretreatment for reverse osmosis. General product specification • High filtration precision: • The membrane filters have a regular pore size distribution allowing precise filtration. • Wide pore size range: • The membrane filters are available with pore sizes 0.1; 0.2; 0.4 and 0.9 µm. Pore sizes are verified with „mercury intrusion“ and „bubble point test“. • Flexibility and high mechanical stability: • The membrane filters maintain their physical properties even in strongly altered working conditions. • No shape change during boiling test: • Longer exposition to boiling water has no impact on the physical properties of the membrane filters. • Autoclaving: • The membrane filters are temperature-resistant up to +125 °C and insensitive to commonly used hot sterilization procedures such as autoclaving or in-situ steam sterilization.
